Why is mixing important?
No amount of plugins, presets, or AI tools can replace trained ears, an acoustically treated studio, and, above all, years of experience. Even the best idea or production can lose its impact if the mix doesn’t work properly.
Mixing is not just “balancing levels” — it’s a process that:
- gives the track its character
- defines the relationships between instruments
- creates space, depth, and energy
- prepares the recording for mastering
a bad mix can hardly be fixed in mastering
At Studio Vintage, every mix is crafted by hand — with a focus on detail, balance, and energy. It’s a crucial step that determines whether your track stands up alongside others on streaming platforms.
STEM MIXING – WHAT IS IT?
Stem mixing means we don’t work with a single final stereo file, but with individual audio tracks (e.g. drums, bass, synths, vocals, etc.).
Stems are always delivered as audio files (WAV / AIFF) — never as a DAW project or MIDI. In some cases, they can also be provided as pre-mixed groups of instruments in stereo tracks (e.g. drums, choirs, etc.). This gives us near full control over each element of the track, allowing us to adjust balance, tone, and spatial placement.
How does it work?
Send us your individual tracks (stems), and we’ll create the final mix. We’ll also need the tempo (BPM), and sometimes the key is helpful too. And you really don’t have to worry about the rights to your work 🙂
- send your stems in WAV or AIFF format along with track details (title, tempo, key)
- we’ll balance the individual tracks
- we’ll create space and depth
- we’ll add clarity and energy
- after approval and payment, we’ll deliver the final mix, or continue with mastering if needed
